How to Join

Membership

Joining NVGC is a two-part process. You'll need sponsorship from an active member, and then complete a range safety qualification before being added to the membership rolls.

1

Find a Sponsor

You must be sponsored by an active member in good standing. Ask around at work, attend a match, or reach out to the Membership Secretary.

2

Waiting List (Part 1)

Complete Part 1 of the application. Your name is published in the newsletter and existing members may comment during this period.

3

Range Safety Check

When a space opens, you'll receive Part 2. Complete a range safety qualification with the Range Safety Committee to demonstrate safe handling.

4

Pay & Get Your Card

Submit payment to the Membership Secretary. You'll receive your membership card with gate access, and be officially added to the rolls.

Fees & Financial Obligations

Don't know a current member? You're welcome to stop by on a match Saturday and introduce yourself to the Membership Secretary — or reach out directly at pmwalt2@comcast.net or 540-809-9704 to arrange a tour. You can also find NVGC matches on Practiscore.com.

Work Party Requirement

Members Keep This Place Running

NVGC operates because members contribute. New members must complete four (4) work party credits in their first 12 months. After that, one work party per year is expected for members under 60. Failure to meet the initial requirement within 12 months results in membership termination.

New members remain on probation until their work party obligations are fulfilled, and may not sponsor other applicants during this time. Here are some of the ways to earn credits:

Attend a scheduled work party (3rd Saturday, March–October)

Arrange a special project with the Club Executive Officer

Set up and run a club match or function

Serve on the Executive Committee or Facility Board

Conduct an instruction course (pistol, rifle, or shotgun)

Volunteer at Family Day, the swap meet, or other events

Credits in Year One

New members must complete four work party credits in their first 12 months of membership. This is a firm requirement — not optional — and is how NVGC remains a well-maintained facility that punches well above its dues level.
